എന്‍റെ ദിന വൃത്താന്തത്തില്‍    ഒരു ദിനം കൂടി ചേര്‍ക്കപ്പെട്ടു .
പുല്‍ക്കൂട്‌  കെട്ടിയും പൂത്തിരി കത്തിച്ചും ഈ ക്രിസ്തുമസും  കടന്നു പോയപ്പോള്‍
സക്രാരി പോലെ നശിക്കാത്തൊരു പുല്‍ക്കൂട്‌ 
ഹൃദയത്തില്‍ ഈശോയ്ക്കായി കെട്ടിയില്ലല്ലോ
എന്ന വ്യഥ ബാക്കിയാകുന്നു.

 Liebe Kinder!

Am 25. Dezember feiern wir eines der größten Feste des Jahres – Weihnachten. An Weihnachten feiern wir den Geburtstag von Jesus.

An Weihnachten werden wir den Christbaum, die Sterne, die Krippe sehen. Zum Weihnachtsfest  gehören viele Zeichen und  Symbole. All diese Symbole erinnern uns an das Geburtsfest von Jesus Christus. Wir sind uns oft gar nicht bewusst, was diese Zeichen mit dem Weihnachtsfest zu tun haben.

In diesem Gottesdienst geht es um Sterne. Wir versuchen, die Bedeutung der Sterne zu verstehen.

Ein Stern stand über dem Stall von Bethlehem. Er zeigte den Hirten den Weg zur Krippe. Er ist der Wegbegleiter zum menschgewordenen Gott.

In unserem Alltag reden wir auch oft von Sternen oder „Stars“. Ein bekannter Schauspieler oder Sänger ist ein Star, wenn einer etwas besonders gut kann, wird er zum Star. Hier steht Stern oder Star für Luxus, Berühmtheit und Reichtum.  Ein Hotel mit 5 Sternen zeigt an, dass es ein Luxushotel ist.

Um all diese Dinge geht es aber nicht, wenn wir vom Weihnachtsstern sprechen, Der Stern über dem Stall von Bethlehem ist ein Symbol für Einfachheit, Liebe zu den Menschen, für Jesus – Gottes Sohn.

Lassen wir diesen Stern in unserem Leben leuchten. Dann werden auch wir wirkliche Sterne  in dieser Welt.

Kommen wir zur Ruhe, damit unser Herz offen wird für den, dessen Geburtstag wir an Weihnachten feiern: nämlich Jesus.

Er will uns den Weg zeigen – und wir wollen ihm Raum geben in unserem Leben, in unseren Familien und in unserer Gemeinde.

Ich wünsche allen eine fröhliche, besinnliche und friedvolle Weihnachtszeit.

Wenn wir  Kinder fragen ob sie  eine Rolle aus der Bibel spielen möchten ,  suchen sich viele gerne die Rolle von Josef aus.

Der Grund ist sehr einfach, es gibt keine Dialoge in der Bibel für Josef, obwohl er ein sehr wichtige Person ist. Ein Mann mit   bärtigem Gesicht  und ruhigem Charakter - auch ich spiele gerne diese Rolle. Ja, auch ich habe  die Rolle von Josef  gespielt als ich im Priesterseminar war. Ich war regelmäßig  Josef für viele Jahre.

Ich denke, es ist richtig dass er kein Wort spricht in der  Bibel  ,obwohl er  eine wichtige Person  in  Gottes Plan ist.

Gott hat ,in seinem Plan , Josef und Maria auf die Geburt Jesu vorbereitet. Maria, das Mädchen von Judäa ist auserwählt, das  Kind Jesus zu gebären . Josef ist auserwählt  sich um das Kind Jesus und  Maria zu  kümmern. Josef , der aus dem Geschlecht König Davids abstammt war verlobt mit Maria. (Die Rolle von) Josef hat das Aufwachsen  Jesu einfach gemacht. Er war einer, der  alles gemacht hat,  wie Gott gesagt  hat.

 Das Erstmal , als ihm ein Engel im Traum erschien , bekommt er die Antwort von Gott , Maria als seine Frau zu nehmen.

 Das Zweite mal –nach der Geburt Jesu, als Herodes das Kind Jesus töten möchte, bekommt Josef  den Befehl nach Ägypten zu flüchten

 Das Dritte mal, nachdem Herodes tot war , als  Gott zu ihm sagte er soll nach Israel zurückkehren

Josef war ein gehorsamer Mensch in allen diesen Situationen zu Gott.

Heute, beschäftigen  wir  uns mit Josef in seinem Verhältnis zu Maria und  Gottes Plan.

Wie wir lesen ,bevor Josef und Maria zusammengekommen waren ,zeigte sich, dass Maria ein Kind erwartete –durch das Wirken des Heiligen Geistes(Mt.1,18). Damals ,als Frau vor der Hochzeit schwanger zu sein, war eine gefährliche Situation – es galt als Ehebruch, sie musste gesteinigt werden. Josef wusste es schon als Jude. Josef war aber gerecht und wollte  nicht dass sie gesteinigt wird. Josef hatte 2 Möglichkeiten- Seine Frau leben- oder durch Steinigung sterben zu lassen. Aber Josef wählt die erste. Obwohl er eine schlaflose Nacht hatte, lässt Josef seine Frau nicht sterben. Er wollte, das Maria lebt. Ein Mann der liebt, lässt einen  anderen  Menschen nicht sterben . Diese Figur Josef steht als Gegenteil  für Menschen die immer nach den Probleme von anderen suchen um sie zu verurteilen.

Wir sind in einer Welt wo es Menschen gibt, die denken, dass nur was sie machen richtig ist. Die Fanatische Menschen in Taliban und  Afganistan  bedrohen mich und euch. Jede Woche hören wir brutal Geschichten (über  Furcht erregende Gewalt).

Wenn ein Mann eine Waffe bekommt, ist es natürlich das er sie  benutzt . Aber Josef ist nicht so.  Er bleibt ruhig und  benutzt nicht die Waffe gegen Maria um ihr Leben zu zerstören.

Aber, wir sind oft nicht so. In der Familie, auf dem Arbeitsplatz, im Verein  usw , wir sind eifrig bemüht etwas nachteiliges über unsere Mitmenschen zu finden. Selbst über Kleinigkeiten regen wir uns auf . Wir sind Menschen die meistens eine  Waffe gegen andere Menschen benutzen wenn wir sie bekommen. Wir sind immer an der Bloßstellung anderer interessiert. Wenn wir andere Menschen wegen Kleinigkeiten auslachen,  sind wir weit weg von der Beispielrolle Josef. Er ist ein  Mann der immer sehr positiv handelt.

Lieben wir in unserem Herzen die Botschaft vom heutigen Evangelium - Lasst andere ruhig leben wie Josef es getan hat.

Josef ist ein Beispiel für alle Menschen, nicht nur für eine Rolle im  Spiel , sondern ein Beispiel  im Leben ihm zu folgen.       Amen

When we ask children to play a role from  the Bible, many like to take the role of Joseph.
The reason is very simple; there is no dialogue in the Bible for Joseph, although he is an important person. A man with bearded face and quiet character –I too like to play this role. Yes, I've also played the role of Joseph as I was in the seminary. I was regularly Joseph in the seminary Programmes  for many years.
I think it is right that no word is uttered by  him in the Bible, although he is an important person in the Play  of God's plan.
God, in His plan, prepared Joseph and Mary for the birth of Jesus. Mary, the girl from Judea, is chosen to give birth to   Jesus. Joseph was chosen as one of the’ care taker’  of Jesus and Mary. Joseph, from the Dynasty of King David, was the person engaged to Mary. The role of Joseph helped  a lot Jesus’ boyhood days to complete as God wished. He was one who did actualize whatever is told by God to do .
 Firstly, in his restless minutes of Anxiety, he  gets the answer from God to receive  Mary as his wife.
Secondly -after the birth of Jesus, when Herod wanted to kill Infant  Jesus,  Joseph gets  advice to seek refuge in Egypt.
Thirdly,  after Herod's death, God told him to come back to Israel.
Joseph was an obedient man towards God in all these situations.

Today we examine only the narration  of his first response  to Mary and to  God's plan.
As we read, before Joseph and Mary having lived together,  Mary seemed having  a child by the Holy Spirit in her Womb(mt.1, 18). At that time, for a woman to have a child previous to her marriage, was  suicidal - As  it is considered an act against marital trust ie. Adultery , she was supposed to be thrown down by  stone until her last breath. Joseph, surely, had known about this Jewish law ,as he was a Jew. Joseph was but just and did not want her to be stoned. Joseph had 2 choices-let her live or let her die by stoning. Joseph chose the first one. Although he might have sleepless  nights of anxiety, Joseph did  not  choose to let her  wife die. He wanted Mary to live. A man who loves other people and lets them  live.

This figure of  Joseph stands  against  people who are always looking for the problems of others and pretending  to be judges of the entire world and people.

We are in a world where there are people who think that only what they are doing is right. The fanatic people in  Taliban and Afghanistan terrifies/threatens me and you. Every week we hear brutal stories of court proceedings in the Court of Taliban, etc.

In these Months,  Time Magazine had written in the Cover story of a girl who underwent brutal suppression of her husband’s family which took away her nose and ears. Only when people are not loving or human  friendly, man can do such acts against human beings.

When a man gets a weapon, naturally  he uses it. But Joseph is not so. He remains calm and does not use  the weapon against Maria to destroy her life.
But, we are often not so. In families, Working  Places, etc, we are eager to find something false from our fellow human beings. Even  about  little things we are worried. We are people who do not lose a chance to use the weapon against other people when we have a weapon against him or her.

If we are always eager  to see only the wrong deeds  of others , always laughing at the little mistakes  of other people, we are far away from Joseph’s role model.
Joseph is a real spiritual  man who does always very positive.

Let us cherish  the message of today's gospel in our hearts - Let others live in peace, as Joseph did.
Joseph is a model for all people, not just for role-play , rather  a model to follow  in life. Amen

ക്രിസ്തുമസ് കാലമാണെങ്കിലും മനസ്സില്‍ ജോസെഫിന്റെ ചിത്രം നിറഞ്ഞു നില്‍ക്കുന്നു. താനുമായി വിവാഹ നിശ്ചയം നടന്ന പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയുടെ ഉദരത്തില്‍ താനറിയാതൊരു ശിശു വളരുന്നു.
യൂദ നിയമ പ്രകാരം കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞു കൊല്ലപ്പെടാന്‍ ഇതിലധികം എന്ത് കാരണം വേണം?
ജോസെഫിന്റെ ആലോചന, പക്ഷെ, അവളെ അപമാനിക്കുന്നതിനായിരുന്നില്ല.
ആയുധപ്പുര കാലിയാകുമ്പോള്‍ ഉള്ള സമാധാന ശ്രമം അല്ല ഇത്.

ആവനാഴിയില്‍ അമ്പുകള്‍ ഏറെ ഉള്ളപ്പോഴും തൊടുക്കാന്‍ മടിക്കുന്ന പോരാളി.വിചിത്രമായ ചിത്രം;പക്ഷെ വിശിഷ്ടമായ    ചിത്രം.

താലിബാന്‍ നീതിപീ O ങ്ങള്‍  എന്നെ സങ്കടപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.
നിയമത്തിന്റെ അറക്കവാളുമായി  അറവുശാലയില്‍    കുഞ്ഞാടുകളെ കാത്തുകിടക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യ ചെന്നായകളെ ആര് എന്ത് ചെയ്യാന്‍ ?

മറ്റു മനുഷ്യരെ അപമാനിക്കാനും , പരിഹസിക്കാനും പുശ്ചിക്കാനും,  കുറ്റം വിധിക്കാനും, ശിക്ഷ നടപ്പാക്കാനും എനിക്ക് മറ്റു മനുഷ്യനെക്കാള്‍ എന്ത് യോഗ്യതയാണ് ഉള്ളത്?

ദൈവം പോലും വിധി നടപ്പാക്കലുകളില്‍ പിശുക്ക് കാട്ടുമ്പോള്‍ ഇവിടെയുള്ളവര്‍ക്ക് വിധിക്കുവാനാണ് ഉത്സാഹം.

ദൈവമേ, ജോസെഫിന്റെത് പോലെ മറ്റു മനുഷ്യരെ അപമാനിക്കാന്‍ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടാത്ത ഹൃദയനന്മ എനിക്കും തരണമേ,            അമേന്‍.

മാനവര്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ ഗ്ലോറിയ പാടുന്നു.

ദൈവത്തിനു മഹത്ത്വമുന്നതങ്ങളില്‍
ദൈവകൃപയുള്ളോര്ക്കുണ്ടൂഴിയില്‍ സമാധാനം !

പൂഴിയില്‍ പുല്‍ക്കൂട്‌ തീര്ത്തീടിലും
ഹൃത്തിലതില്ലെന്കിലെന്തു ഫലം?
നക്ഷത്രമേറെക്കൊണ്ടലങ്കരിച്ചാലും

"മഞ്ഞുകാല" മനം മാറ്റം- ബെത് ലെഹെമിലെക്കുള്ള വഴി

"മഞ്ഞുനീക്കി വാഹനത്താല്‍" ഒരുക്കപ്പെട്ട മഞ്ഞുകാല വഴികളില്‍ അപകടസാധ്യതകുറയുന്നു.

ആത്മീയ വഴിയില്‍  മാര്‍ഗതടസങ്ങള്‍ ആകാവുന്ന സകലതിനെയും ഉരുക്കിമാറ്റുകയാണ് ആത്മീയകാര്യശ്രദ്ധാലുവായ  മനുഷ്യന്‍ എന്ന "മഞ്ഞുമാറ്റല്‍  ജോലിക്കാരന്‍" ചെയ്യേണ്ടത് .

ക്രിസ്തുമസിനുള്ള ആത്മീയ ഒരുക്കകാലമായ ഈ "മഞ്ഞുകാല" ആഗമനകാലത്ത്
"മനം മാറ്റത്തിന്റെ " വഴി തെളിച്ചെടുത്താല്‍    അതാണ്‌ ബെത് ലെഹെമിലേക്ക്  നയിക്കുന്നത്.

   ..Repentence - A way to Bethlehem ..
Dear sisters and brothers in Jesus Christ,

It snows a lot in these days.
Therefore, since 1 week ,we had to drive  our vehicles here along the streets with great difficulty .
Here plays the snowplough  a great role.

When a snow plough clears away the snow and often sprinkles salt along the street, we are happy and have no fear.
The more cleared are the roads ,the  easier the ride is.
As the  snowplough has a great role in this forthcoming Winter season, today-on 2 Advent Sunday in the Liturgical year, we see the great role of the forerunner of Jesus, i.e. John -the Baptist.
 
Advent is the time for preparing for the birth of Jesus and the arrival of Jesus in our hearts.
In today's Gospel we see a person who prepared the people.
John the Baptist is the central figure in today's Gospel.
His example is the message for us today.
 
John the Baptist was the forerunner of Jesus.
Although he was from a priestly family, he did not live alike. He lived in deserts and had the life style like that of the ‘ aborigines’. He had the  robe made of camel hair and wore a leather belt around his waist, grasshoppers and wild honey were his food (Cf.Mt.3.4). Thus we read in the Gospel.
But his words were spiritually strong and powerful. Many have gone to him. They confessed their sins and were baptized by him.

His life and his preaching was spiritual enough to move  ‘the- then- Jews’ from their sinful ways to turn back. His message was mostly about "repentence" ...''Repent! For the kingdom of heaven is at hand''(Mt.3.2). He was a real prophet who knew that Jesus was the Son of God. Therefore, he says: "He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire (Mt.3.11)

He was a true prophet who had the awareness of the reality . Although a large group  followed him, he was ready to accept Jesus and his power. Therefore, he says, "I baptize you with water as a sign of repentance. But he who comes after me is mightier than I, and I am not worthy to carry his sandals (Mt.3.11). "The example of a proper humility.
John the Baptist is also one, as Jesus , who speaks unkindly with the then Pharisees and Sadducees because of  their hypocrisy and arrogance. He calls them as vipers.
He advised his audience to bring fruits of repentance (Mt.3.8)

Snow in winter is white, but on the trees there are no fruits below the snow in winter.

The preparation time for the arrival of Jesus must not be so.

With the symbols and the signs we use to look at the meaning of the season and to remind especially the advent  time, we do not have to abide by the customs. But the religious symbols and signs should   help our lives to improve a bit better as  Jesus wishes them   to be.

‘The Green Wreath’(=Adventkranz), a symbol of life and unity - can have no meaning even if one celebrates it very festive  with a life without hope and unity in life .
Although  the light of the four Advent candles  intends to show the gradual rise to the full light of Christmas, it means nothing if one has not the right way and no real faith in God's light or has no good relations  with other people, although he celebrates it very festive.

As we celebrate this Advent, we ask ourselves "Am I a little more loving with my God and my fellow human beings"
The more intensive is the  preparation, the better the result is.
 

If we have a little remembrance that we are not  hundred percent in God's way ,

 we are on the way to Bethlehem, that is the way of repentance.

…Die Umkehr- Ein Weg   nach Betlehem..

Liebe Schwestern und Brüder,

Es schneit viel in diesen Tagen .

Deswegen haben wir  schon seit einer Woche große Schwierigkeit hier auf den Straßen Auto zu fahren.

Hier spielt der Schneepflug eine große Rolle.

Wenn ein Schneepflug oft den Schnee wegräumt und die Straße streut,  sind wir glücklich und haben keine Angst .

Je mehr die Wege  klar oder geräumt sind  ,desto besser/einfacher ist die Fahrt.

Wie wir sehen, hat der Winterdienst eine große Rolle in dieser Jahreszeit.  Am 2. Sonntag in der Advent Kirchenjahreszeit-sehen wir die große Rolle des Wegbereiters Jesus-Johannes der Täufer.

Adventszeit ist die Zeit für Vorbereitung  zur Geburt Jesu  und der Ankunft Jesu in unseren Herzen .

Im heutigen Evangelium sehen wir eine Person der die Menschen vorbereitet hat .

Johannes, der Täufer  ist die Hauptperson im heutigen Evangelium.

Sein Beispiel ist die Botschaft für uns heute.

Johannes, der Täufer war der Wegbereiter für Jesus.

Obwohl er aus einer  priesterlichen Familie war,  lebte er  in der  Wüsste wie ‚ 'die Ureinwohner‘(=aborigines). "Er trug ein Gewand aus Kamelhaaren und einen ledernen Gürtel um seine Hüften; Heuschrecken und wilder Honig waren seine Nahrung(Mt.3.4)“. So lesen wir  im Evangelium.

Aber seine Worte waren stark und geistlich .Viele sind zu ihm gegangen .Sie bekannten ihre Sünden und  wurden von ihm getauft.

Sein Leben und seine Predigt waren geistlich genug um die damaligen Juden auf ihren sündigen Wegen zur Umkehr zu bewegen.  Seine Botschaft war mehr über 'Umkehr'…‘‘Kehrt um! Denn das Himmelreich ist nahe‘‘(Mt.3.2). 

Er war ein richtiger Prophet ,der wusste dass Jesus der Sohn Gottes war. Deshalb sagt er :“Er wird euch mit dem  Heiligen Geist und mit Feuer taufen"(Mt.3.11)

Er war auch ein richtiger Prophet der die Realität kannte . Obwohl die Leute ihm folgten, war er  bereit  Jesus und seine Macht zu akzeptieren  . Deshalb sagt er: “Ich taufe euch nur mit Wasser  zum Zeichen der Umkehr. Der aber, der nach mir kommt, ist stärker als ich, und ich bin es nicht wert, ihm die Schuhe auszuziehen"(Mt.3.11).  Das Beispiel für eine  richtige Demut. 

Johannes, der Täufer ist auch einer, wie Jesus- d/er spricht unfreundlich mit den damaligen Pharisäer und Sadduzäer  auf Grund ihrer Heuchelei und Hochmut. Er nennt sie als Schlangenbrut.

Er hat seinem Zuhörer geraten Frucht der Umkehr (Mt.3.8)zu bringen.

Schnee im Winter ist weiß, aber auf den Bäumen findet man keine Frucht unten dem Schnee im Winter. Die Vorbereitungszeit für die Ankunft Jesu muss nicht so sein. Mit den Symbolen und den Zeichen die wir benutzen um uns an die Bedeutung der Jahreszeit, besonders die Adventszeit zu erinnern,  müssen wir uns nicht  an die  Bräuche halten. Sondern die religiöse Symbole und Zeichen müssen uns helfen unser Leben wie Jesus es wünscht zu verbessern.

Der Grüne Kranz –ein Symbol  von Leben und Gemeinschaft – kann keine Bedeutung haben –wenn einer das  sehr festlich  feiert mit einem Leben ohne Hoffnung und Gemeinschaft .

Obwohl uns das Licht der vier  Adventkerzen  den stufen weisen Aufstieg zum vollen Licht der Weihnacht zeigt, bedeutet es nichts,  wenn einer  nicht die richtigen Wege und  keinen richtigen Glauben an Gottes Licht hat  oder  keine Gemeinschaft mit Menschen, obwohl er es sehr festlich feiert .

Wenn wir diesen Advent feiern,  fragen wir uns selbst „ Bin ich ein wenig mehr liebevoll mit meinem Gott und mit meinen Mitmenschen?“

Je intensiver die Vorbereitung ist,  desto  besser ist das Ergebnis.

Wenn wir einen kleine Gedenken haben, dass wir sind noch nicht Hundert Prozent  im Gottes Weg sind, sind wir auf dem Weg nach Betlehem- das ist der Weg der Umkehr.

പക്ഷെ,  24 മണിക്കൂറും മഞ്ഞു വീഴുന്ന  സ്ഥലങ്ങളില്‍ കഴിയുന്നവന്റെ
മഞ്ഞുമൂടിയ പ്രസന്ന മനസ്സ് തെളിയാന്‍ മാസങ്ങള്‍ ഇനിയും കാത്തിരിക്കണം!

മഞ്ഞുകാലങ്ങളില്‍ ഉറഞ്ഞുകൂടി സ്ഫടികതുല്യം  റോഡുകളില്‍ പ്രശ്ച്ചന്നവേഷക്കാരനായി തെളിഞ്ഞു കിടക്കുന്ന മഞ്ഞു ചില്ലുകളാണ് മഞ്ഞുകാലങ്ങളിലെ  കൂട്ടിയിടി  വാഹന നിരകളുടെ കാരണക്കാരനെന്ന് കാണുന്നവനറിയാം.

പക്ഷെ പിന്നെയും മഞ്ഞു സ്ഫടികങ്ങളുടെ കപടത...വാഹനനിയന്താവിന്റെ ജാഗ്രതക്കുറവിനെ കെണിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.

ജീവിത വഴികളില്‍ ജാഗ്രതക്കുറവുള്ളിടത്ത് സൌന്ദര്യത്തിന്റെ കപടവേഷധാരിയായ അസത്യവും കെണിയൊരുക്കി കാത്തുനില്പ്പുണ്ടെന്നു  അറിയുക!

Mt.24.37- 44 "Vigilant life journey"

Dear sisters and brothers in Jesus,

Many of you ask me, "Do you freeze up?" It is  getting cold now. Slowly begins a new season. Winter is very near. Something similar  takes place  in the Liturgical  Year also:  Today begins – liturgically  viewing  - a new season, called “Advent”.

The Advent has a two fold character: on the one hand, preparation time for the Christmas fest with the great  memory of the first coming of the Son of God to the people. On the other hand, the Christmas season at the same time draws by this commemoration of the heart towards the expectation of the Second Coming of Christ at the end of time. In both aspects, the Advent is a time of devoted and joyful expectation.

During last winter I was in Grafenau, where I learned German driving rules and  obtained the German driving  license. Many hours I was driving on snowy roads. I think it's not easy to drive  car  in  winter in the Bavarian Forest . You have to be very cautious and careful that no accident takes place. Yet, beside the road there are traffic sign boards  to help us with their different signs and symbols. If paths are not clear or  very narrow, traffic signs play a major role.
Today's Gospel is like a sign board. It talks about vigilance and preparedness. The traffic sign of our lives is the Word of God. It is always important to look at it. . Our life is a journey, that we must proceed with caution.

 Be vigilant! (Mt.24, 42) - Jesus says. The reason for this is that we do not know on which day our Lord comes (mt.24, 42). Jesus compares his arrival with the arrival of a thief.

We humans know nothing about the divine plans of His second coming. What we can say with certainty is that we all will go away from here. But the time for this is unclear for us. Important is our life here on earth. Who lives here with  good deeds and good thinking can expect the arrival of Jesus happily.

"Be   prepared ..." (mt.24, 43) says the Lord. The two words vigilance and preparedness are closely linked. Who is vigilant in life is also prepared for the arrival of Jesus.

The words of Jesus has always something more to say lively  , so also  today – i.e vigilance in this life.

We know that the signs of the times always talk about vigilance.
I sometimes watch TV shows. There are many surveys. If something has gone wrong,  Media reporters immediately ask "why?". We call the media so often , in this regard, as "watch dog". If problems are found, they conduct “voting  " also.

When something happens wrong, we people need to be careful and ask ourselves why it happened. In most cases, problems arise from situations in which we were not vigilant. If we destroy the Earth, the Earth retaliates in the same coin. When God-given goals are misled, there results problems for us. For example: AIDS a sign of vigilance against "unlimited Sexual  freedom,   diseases because of the atomic reaction  ,  poison in our food etc ... .. - These are all signs of times and requires vigilance in our lives.

Thoughts on  vigilance and readiness for the arrival of Jesus must help us to improve our  lives.  If we live our lives eco friendly, human  friendly and life-friendly , we are alert and ready for his arrival.

Mt.24,37-44 „Wachsame Lebensfahrt“
Liebe Schwestern und Brüder,
Viele von Euch fragen mich: „Frieren Sie bei uns?“ Es wird jetzt kalt. Langsam
kommt eine neue Jahreszeit. Der Winter ist in der Nähe. So ähnlich geht es uns im
Kirchenjahr: Heute beginnt – liturgisch gesehen – eine neue Jahreszeit, sie heißt
Advent.
Die Adventszeit hat einen doppelten Charakter: Sie ist einerseits Vorbereitungszeit
auf die weihnachtlichen Hochfeste mit ihrem Gedächtnis des ersten Kommens
des Gottessohnes zu den Menschen. Andererseits lenkt die Adventszeit zugleich
durch dieses Gedenken die Herzen hin zur Erwartung der Zweiten Ankunft Christi
am Ende der Zeiten. Unter beiden Gesichtspunkten ist die Adventszeit eine Zeit
hingebender und freudiger Erwartung.
Im letzten Winter war ich in Grafenau und machte dort den deutschen Führerschein.
Viele Stunden bin ich auf schneebedeckten Straßen gefahren. Ich denke, es ist
nicht einfach im Winter im Bayrischen Wald Auto zu fahren. Man muss dabei sehr
vorsichtig sein und aufpassen, dass kein Unfall passiert. Auf der Straße helfen uns
dabei Verkehrsschilder mit ihren verschiedenen Zeichen und Symbolen. Wenn Wege
nicht klar sind oder sehr eng sind, spielen Verkehrsschilder eine große Rolle.
Das heutige Evangelium ist auch wie ein Schild. Es spricht über Wachsamkeit und
Bereitschaft. Das Verkehrschild unseres Lebens ist das Wort Gottes. Es ist immer
wichtig, darauf zu schauen. . Unser Leben ist eine Fahrt, wir müssen vorsichtig
fahren.
Seid also Wachsam! ( Mt.24,42 ) – sagt Jesus. Der Grund dafür ist, dass wir nicht
wissen, an welchem Tag unser Herr kommt ( Mt.24,42 ). Jesus vergleicht seine
Ankunft mit der Ankunft eines Diebes.
Wir Menschen wissen nichts über die göttlichen Pläne der Wiederkunft. Was wir mit
Sicherheit sagen können, ist, dass wir alle einmal von hier weggehen. Aber die Zeit
dafür ist für uns unklar. Wichtig ist unsere Lebenszeit hier auf Erden. Wer hier im
Leben Gutes tut und Gutes denkt, kann die Ankunft Jesu glücklich erwarten.
„Haltet auch ihr euch bereit…“ ( Mt.24,43 ) spricht der Herr. Die beiden Wörter
Wachsamkeit und Bereitschaft sind eng miteinander verbunden. Wer im Leben
wachsam ist, ist auch bereit für die Ankunft Jesu.
Das Wort Jesu hat uns immer etwas lebendiges zu sagen, so auch heute –
Wachsamkeit im irdischen Leben.
Wir wissen, dass die Zeichen der Zeit immer über Wachsamkeit sprechen.
Ich schau manchmal fernsehen. Dort gibt es viele Umfragen. Medien berichten, wenn
etwas falsch gegangen ist und fragen sofort nach dem „Warum?“. Wir bezeichnen
die Medien deswegen auch oft als „wachsame Hunde“. Wenn Fehler gemacht
werden, „machen sie Stimme“.
Wenn etwas passiert ist, müssen wir Menschen vorsichtig sein und uns fragen,
warum es passiert ist. Meistens entstehen Probleme aus Situationen, in denen
wir nicht wachsam waren. Wenn wir die Erde kaputt machen, reagiert die Erde,
sie gibt uns Zeichen. Wenn etwas gegen das gottgegebene Ziel geschieht, dann
gibt es Probleme für uns. Zum Beispiel: AIDS ist ein Zeichen für Wachsamkeit
gegen „grenzenlose, körperliche Freiheit“, Krankheiten wegen der Atomenergie,
Gift in unserem Essen….. – das alles sind Zeichen und verlangt Wachsamkeit in
unserem Leben.
Gedanken über die Wachsamkeit und Bereitschaft für die Ankunft Jesu müssen
uns helfen, unser Leben zu verbessern. Wenn wir unser Leben umweltfreundlich,
menschenfreundlich und lebensfreundlich leben, dann sind wir wachsam und bereit
für seine Ankunft.

...A King who does not save Himself ...Lk.23.35-43

Nov. 21.Sunday – Christ, the King

 ... "The Little Prince" - I think there is none here who has not heard about  this Title. From childhood, this is  well known and loved by us. Children like to play the role of prince and king, princess and queen.  World History has witnessed many kings and queens. But we usually associate them with negative stories. They are often known for their luxury and for efforts to save their own life, not the lives of their subjects or their fellow human beings. The image of a king is always connected with powerful deeds.

Today we hear from a very different king. Although he has all the power he uses it not for his own salvation. He is the right king and an example for all kings. This is the central message of today..

Jesus was and is the  king of the world. The Jews wanted to make him their king. They have seen his miracles, for example the feeding of 5,000 people etc . They thought that if Jesus is their king, people need not be  hungry or thirsty and everything would be all right. But Jesus was not willing for  the kingship. When he knew that people wanted him as king, he went away through the crowd. He was not longing for  a kingship in the earthly sense. He only wanted  to save the poor, the mourners and the hungry.

But Jesus was the King . When asked by Pilate, Jesus declares that he is a king. But he says quite clearly and openly that his kingdom is not of this world (Joh.18.36). “If it were of this world, my servants would fight, so that I would not be delivered to the Jews” - as we read in John's Gospel (18.36). Here we find a king who makes no effort to save himself. (With the writing, 'This is the king of the Jews, the Jews wanted to mock Jesus.) If a king is attacked and conquered , then usually go away his people permanently  and they no longer exist for him.. With Jesus it is different, his group  or people became stronger and larger. That's the difference between a king of this world and Jesus.

Kings are not elected. They normally come from a family by way of power  through   inheritance. Jesus is also one that we don’t choose, rather he chose us. He is our king. To  his disciples he said once that he had chosen them and not in the other way.
We are chosen by our King Jesus. Jesus’ Kingship is not to suppress the  people, but  to love and let live . He has shown us this with his life. He loved all people from the heart. He was not a king, who showed his power before the whole world. He wanted people to lead  towards his father.

His way is not that of oppression, but of liberation. Oppression robs freedom from people. In many countries there exists the rule of oppression- we  read about it in the newspapers. But those who stand for the freedom of people until death,  follows Jesus’ way of Kingship.

 In today's Gospel we see that Jesus could have helped himself. The soldiers and the thief on the left side have laughed at Jesus: "If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself!" (Lk.23, 37)

Today when we celebrate the day of Christ the King, it is important that we look at the whole world. Let people  be under  God's Kingdom, where people have the freedom to eat, to speak, to live etc ? We know that many problems exist in the world is because of the misunderstanding/wrong understanding of Rule and Kingship. Many  people understand kingship and rule wrong, e.g Terrorism, Communism without faith in God, oppression in countries ruled by soldiers. ... etc. There, the kingship of Jesus is not a role model.

We have a Festival called ‘Onam’ .in  Kerala, a state-in South India- There is a legend behind this festival . It is in memory of a king, under whose reign  all people were equal and happy.

When we think today of  Jesus as our King, let us learn from him.  Amen

Lk.23,35-43……Ein König, der sich selbst nicht rettet…- Nov. 21.Sonntag –

 Letzter Sonntag im Jahreskreis – Christkönigsonntag

„Der kleine Prinz“ – ich denke, es ist keiner hier, der diesen Titel noch nicht gehört hat. Von Kindheit an sind diese Geschichten sehr bekannt und beliebt bei uns. Kinder spielen sehr gerne die Rolle von Prinz und König, Prinzessin und Königin. Auch in der Geschichte gibt es viele Könige und Königinnen. Meistens verbinden wir sie mit negativen Geschichten. Oft sind sie bekannt für ihren Luxus und dafür, ihr eigenes Leben zu retten, nicht das Leben ihrer Untertanen, ihrer Mitmenschen. Das Bild von einem König ist für uns immer mit machtvollen Taten verbunden.

Heute hören wir von einem ganz anderen König. Obwohl er alle Macht hat, benutzt er sie nicht für die eigene Rettung. Er ist der richtige König und ein Beispiel für alle Könige. Das ist die zentrale Botschaft..

Jesus war und ist der König der Welt. Die Juden wollten ihn zu ihrem König machen. Sie haben seine Wunder gesehen, z.B. die Speisung von 5000 Menschen. Sie dachten, wenn Jesus unser König ist, müssen die Menschen nicht mehr hungern und es wäre alles in Ordnung. Aber Jesus war gegen diese Königswürde. Als er wusste, dass die Leute ihn zum König haben wollten, ging er weg durch die Menschenmenge. Er will kein König im irdischen Sinne sein. Er will immer nur die Rettung der Armen, der Trauernden und der Hungernden.

Aber Jesus war König und ist König. Auf die Frage von Pilatus erklärt Jesus, dass er ein König ist. Aber er sagt ganz klar und offen, dass sein Königtum nicht von dieser Welt sei ( Joh.18.36 ). Wenn es von dieser Welt wäre, würden meine Leute kämpfen, damit ich den Juden nicht ausgeliefert würde – so lesen wir im Johannesevangelium ( 18.36 ). Hier finden wir also einen König, der nichts macht, um sich selbst zu retten. (Mit dem Schild ‚‘Das ist die König der Juden’ verspotteten die Juden Jesus.)

Wenn ein König ausgeliefert wird, dann gehen normalerweise seine Leute weg. Bei Jesus ist das anders, seine Leute wurden stärker und größer. Das ist der Unterschied zwischen einem König von dieser Welt und Jesus.

Könige werden nicht gewählt. Sie stammen normalerweise aus einer Familie. Jesus ist auch einer, den wir nicht wählen können. Er ist unser König. Zu seinen Jüngern hat er gesagt, dass er sie ausgewählt hat.

Wir sind von unserem König Jesus auserwählt. Aber nicht, damit wir unsere Mitmenschen unterdrücken, wir sollen sie lieben und leben lassen. Das hat er uns mit seinem Leben gezeigt. Er liebte alle Menschen von Herzen. Er war kein König, der seine Macht vor aller Welt zeigte. Er wollte die Menschen nur zu seinem Vater führen.

Sein Weg ist nicht die Unterdrückung, sondern die Befreiung. Unterdrückung raubt den Menschen die Freiheit. In vielen Ländern der Erde herrscht das Königtum der Unterdrückung, wir können davon in der Zeitung lesen. Wer sich aber einsetzt für die Freiheit der Menschen bis hin zum Tod, der folgt Jesus nach. Im heutigen Evangelium sehen wir das. Jesus könnte sich selbst helfen. Die Soldaten und der Dieb an der linken Seite lachen Jesus aus: „Wenn du der König der Juden bist, dann hilf dir selbst!“ ( Lk.23,37 )

Wenn wir heute Christkönigfest feiern, ist es wichtig, dass wir auf die ganze Welt schauen. Lassen die Menschen Gottes Reich kommen, in dem die Menschen die Freiheit haben, zu essen, zu sprechen, zu leben? Wir wissen, dass viele Probleme in der Welt darin bestehen, dass Menschen Königtum falsch verstehen, z.B. Terrorismus, Kommunismus ohne Glauben an Gott, Unterdrückung in Ländern, die von Soldaten regiert werden….usw.  Dort ist das Königtum von Jesus noch kein Vorbild.

Wir haben ein Fest, das heißt ONAM für unser Bundesland-Kerala. Dazu gibt es eine Legende. Es ist die Erinnerung an einen König, unter dem alle Menschen gleich und glücklich waren.

Wenn wir heute an Jesus als unseren König denken, dann lasst uns lernen von ihm. Amen

ചിലിയിലെ മണ്ണിടിഞ്ഞു തകര്‍ന്ന ഖനിയുടെ അടിയില്‍നിന്നും ജീവശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ "ഞങ്ങള്‍ ഇവിടെയുണ്ട്" എന്ന തുണ്ടുകടലാസ് മുകളിലേക്ക് ഉയര്‍ന്നു വരുന്നത്..
അവിടെത്തുടങ്ങി യുദ്ധകാലാടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലുള്ള രക്ഷാപ്രവര്‍ത്തനം.
ഒടുവില്‍ ഖനിതൊഴിലാളികള്‍ക്ക് വീണ്ടുമൊരു ജീവിതവും വീണ്ടുമൊരു ലോകവും ലഭിച്ചു.
 ദൈവമേ , നിസഹായതയുടെ മണ്‍  കൂനകള്‍ക്കടിയില്‍ നിന്ന് ഞങ്ങള്‍ ഉയര്‍ത്തി നല്‍കുന്ന പ്രാര്‍ഥനയുടെ  തുണ്ട് ജീവലക്ഷണങ്ങള്‍ നീ കാണേണമേ..ഞങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ. ആമേന്‍ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

World and Life - A Long Lasting Film(Lk.21,5-19)

 

"When I watch a film I should watch it from beginning till end. Otherwise it is boring and meaningless".

Many people say so.

I think that's right.
In today's Gospel we have a glance at two different perspectives.
There are the people who enjoy the beauty of the temple and speak praise about it.
But Jesus, the  Prophet  tells them ahead of the expiry of the temple, ”No stone will be  left unturned. Everything will be torn down”. He predicts of  a difficult future. He speaks of war and unrest, earthquakes, pestilence and famine.

Jesus, the Son of God knows the past, present and future of everything.
He knows what was in the past and what will happen in the future. Therefore, he could predict all these tragic things too.

The people there have seen only the present - only a part of the whole. They thought that  the current beauty remains. Only what is now, for the people is important and right.

We humans have  only a partial   view  of the world and life with ‘a life span’s  time’ . Only in  this time limit we can see the history of the world with our eyes. And that is a tiny moment in comparison with God's eternity.

Only One knows the whole "world history" and that's GOD!

Our world or the cosmos is a film, that no one can ever see from beginning to end.

Jesus, Son of God, sees everything and knows  everything. He foresees war and unrest. He speaks of suffering and trials in faith.

All that Jesus speaks of in the Gospel today, we see around our lives: war, earthquake, dispute in the family, famine, etc. Many people who see these things happening, say and think that  the end of the world is near.

Today we celebrate the National Day of Remebering Soldiers who lost their lives in World Wars . We pay tribute  in a special way to the victims of war and violence. War was for many the end of ‘their time’. I think that these people might have thought then that would  have been  the end of the world.
Jesus tells us very clearly, that the world does not end with these characteristics. Last year I watched the movie "2012". That deals with the theme of  destruction of the world in a few years. You may have already watched  it out. It is good sometimes to ponder over these things.

But Jesus warns us against false prophets: "Beware that they do not mislead you."
Although we people know things more and more scientifically, but I think the superstition is also increasing. Many people are afraid of a troubled life, a natural disaster. And many do have a strong fear  of death and of the dead People.

I've heard that it was once so common by  you to pray for the dying at the deathbed. Previously people were not so afraid to look at the faces of the dead and stand at the open coffin.
Death, cemetery, war and natural disasters - all this reminds us that the end of time here on this world for us once comes to an end. This memory can help us make our life a little better every day

Jesus wants us  always remember that beauty has another side. But he says that we do not have to be  discouraged, rather to be strengthened in  faith in him .

The word of Jesus gives us strength and hope in all the trials and sufferings to persist: "By your perseverance you will secure your lives."
O God, give us the strength for that. Amen.
